Camp is only as rough as you want it to be. The retreat sleeps 250 people in real beds and has a variety of cabins, lodges, and even private houses! There is a dining hall, two amphitheaters, pavilions, pool, and a host of other marvelous spaces for us to transform, including 2 large event buildings that we turn into spectacular playspaces. If you’re looking to rough it a bit more, you can bring a tent and you will still have access to public bathrooms and showers. Regardless of if you are staying in a cabin or tenting, we recommend signing up for the camp’s reliably tasty meal plan and give yourself one less thing to worry about and a whole lot more time to hit classes and the playspaces.
Tenting is included in your entrance fee and available to the first 300 attendees.
Camp Thornwood offers several open fields and wooded areas for tenting — but this isn’t a state park, and there are no pre-marked campsites. Instead, you’ll find flexible, first-come-first-placed zones where you can set up a reasonably sized tent. We ask that you keep your footprint modest and avoid building large or elaborate structures. This is our inaugural year, and we’re all getting a feel for how the space fits together — so a little mindfulness goes a long way.
Want to share a tent? Even better. It’s a great way to connect and conserve space.
Once tenting spots are full, you’ll need to reserve a cabin or premium lodge space to attend — so plan accordingly if you’re hoping to camp under the stars.
Welcome to the heart of Camp Thornwood — the Lodge. Centrally located and connected to the dining hall, the Lodge is the place to be if you want to minimize hills, maximize connection, and stay close to the action. It features a cozy common room with a fireplace, shared multi-stall bathrooms, plenty of showers, and a swamp-cooler-style ventilation system (not quite A/C… but better than a paper fan and wishful thinking).
Group Room Options
Bringing a crew? Want your own den of debauchery? Book a full group room — and while you don't have to, we'd appreciate you filling all the beds. Prices are per room and are available starting Thursday.
Note: Each “Bunk” refers to a bunk bed with both an upper and a lower bed — two sleepers per bunk.
If you're the lead guest, you're responsible for coordinating your group. These rooms are open starting Thursday, and the price does not change based on arrival date.
Single Bed Options
Flying solo or joining friends who already booked a room? Grab a single bed and we’ll place you in the bunkhouse or another available Lodge room.
If you're booking a Queen, make sure to name your bedmate — we assume you're sharing, not starfishing.
Looking for a little extra comfort in the woods? Our Upper Camp Quad Cabins offer a premium stay at Camp Thornwood.
These 11 stand-alone cabins each feature two queen beds, with an expected occupancy of four people per cabin. Recently renovated, they’re thoughtfully designed with high ceilings, mini-split A/C units, desks, and ample space for your gear. Whether you’re looking to retreat in style, cool down between scenes, or just enjoy a quiet night with your bunkmates, these cabins are as cozy as they are classy.
They’re beautiful, comfortable — and yes, they smell like new wood and good decisions.
Camp Thornwood offers 25 spacious Bell Tents, set up in several prime, flat areas — most just steps away from the heart of camp.
Each tent includes:
Want to bring a third? You can add a single bed for an additional fee.
Just roll in, drop your bags, and enjoy your weekend in style — no setup required.
Want to stay in the heart of the action? The Poolside Doubles are as close as it gets.
These coveted rooms come with a king bed, air conditioning, and — the holy grail of camp luxury — their own private en suite bathrooms. That’s right: these are the only rooms at Camp Thornwood with private bathrooms.
With only three available, these rooms go fast. If you want to be close to the pool, the party, and your own shower? This is your spot.
Camp Thornwood has 15 RV hookups available for those who prefer their own cozy nest with a bit more control over the elements.
Each spot includes electrical hookups and is located close to the main camp area for easy access to all the fun. Spaces are limited and will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis during registration.
Please note: no black water disposal is available on site, so plan accordingly. These spots are ideal for self-contained units and campers who want the comfort of their RV while still being immersed in the Thornwood experience.
Bringing a crew? The Premium Houses are perfect for groups of 6, 9, or 10 who want to stay — and play - together.
These are fully equipped homes, complete with kitchens, bathrooms, air conditioning, and porches for morning coffee or late-night debriefs. If your group loves to cook, hang out, or have a private hub between adventures, this is your ideal setup.
They’re not just cabins - they’re real houses. And they’re one of the most comfortable ways to experience Camp Thornwood as a shared retreat.
Take the meal plan. Meet others. Build community - and don’t worry about bringing a thing.
At Camp Thornwood, food is part of the magic. Our all-inclusive meal plan includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day, all lovingly prepared by the camp's Executive Chef, Brenden. He brings an international flair to every meal, drawing from years of cheffing in Spain, Portugal, Amsterdam, and Turkey - and yes, he bakes, too.
Dinner will be your first meal on arrival day (Thursday or Friday), and we’ll wrap things up on Monday with a leisurely brunch before you pack up and head out.
You can expect delicious, nourishing meals with vegan and vegetarian options available at every service. And best of all? You don’t have to bring any cooking gear - just show up hungry, grab a tray, and share a table. The food is good. The company is better. And the connections forged over coffee or dessert might just be the best part of camp.
While we highly recommend the meal plan for ease, connection, and great food, we understand that some campers prefer to cook for themselves. If that’s your path, here’s what you need to know:
The venue doesn’t typically allow outside cooking, so we’re working closely with them to create a designated outdoor cooking zone. Due to wildfire risk, all personal cooking must take place in this shared area — no exceptions.
We’ll provide a limited number of gas grills and flat tops for communal use. You’re also welcome to bring your own, but it must be used only in the designated cooking zone. At this time, we expect limited space, shared equipment, and potential bottlenecks during peak hours — especially if many folks opt out of the meal plan.
Cleanup will also be rustic: while the camp hopes to build a proper wash station in future years, this year we anticipate providing wash, rinse, and sanitize tubs for shared use.
In short: you can cook, and we’ll do our best to make it work — but be prepared to spend a fair amount of time hauling, prepping, and cleaning, rather than relaxing or playing. If you’re just eating sandwiches and snacks, you’ll be fine. But if you’re dreaming of hot meals all weekend, consider whether that trade-off is worth it.
And again… the meal plan is delicious!
To help keep Camp Thornwood running smoothly - and to keep costs down for everyone - all attendees are asked to contribute a few hours of help during the weekend. Think of it as pitching in for the greater good (and maybe having a little fun while you’re at it).
The tasks are simple and often social: working registration, greeting at the front gate, serving midnight snacks, or even cruising around on a golf cart. Most shifts are short, and many folks say it’s one of the easiest ways to meet new people.
Prefer to skip the duties and focus fully on your personal journey? We get it. A “Resort Option” is available to opt out of chores for $75. Most campers choose to participate, but the choice is yours.
IONs are camper-created pop-up events - playful, weird, heartfelt, or just plain fun. These are DIY happenings dreamed up and led by you, our fellow Thornwood adventurers. Want to host a rope demo, run a sexy scavenger hunt, lead a guided meditation, or test out a new workshop idea? An ION is the perfect place to share it.
We have space for about 15–20 IONs over the weekend, and creativity is highly encouraged - games, mixers, art projects, rituals, movement, storytelling, experiments… If it brings people together, it’s welcome.
Once you’ve registered, you’ll find the ION submission form in the Attendee Area. And here’s a perk: hosting an ION counts as your community chore. Because sharing your brilliance is more than enough.
For a handful of essential roles that require a bit more time and care, we rely on a small group of dedicated volunteers. If you’re able to commit 6–12 hours over the course of the weekend, we’re happy to offer a registration discount in appreciation for your support.
Volunteer spots are limited, and we prioritize these opportunities for those experiencing financial hardship who might not otherwise be able to attend.
If you’d like to apply for a volunteer role, you can do so here:

Since this is our first year at Camp Thornwood, we went into the Dark Odyssey archives to find some amazing images from our previous Fusion and Summer Camp events on the east coast. We are sure we will have great shots to share next year!
At the height of wildfire season?! No!
For safety reasons, personal fires are strictly prohibited. That means no campfires, fire pits, or open flames at your tent or cabin. But don’t worry! We’ll have a designated fire circle with monitored campfires throughout the weekend for drumming, gathering, and that classic summer camp glow.
Cooking? Use the gas grills and flat tops in the shared cooking area. No open flames allowed outside that zone.
Let’s all stay safe. Let’s keep the forest intact.
